The best piece of art I managed to produce was part of a painting by number kit; my mum and dad bought it for me one Christmas. The idea was simple; a line drawing where each part had a number, corresponding to a paint colour, you completed bit by bit. This year’s Provisional GCSE and A-level examination entries from Ofqual are both interesting and depressing; the same subjects, possibly even more, have faced a similar fate in many primary schools over the years. Ensuring curriculum continuity across Year 6 to 7 is a challenge; trying to establish a causal link to what has or hasn’t helped you be successful can be an even greater challenge. Part of our vision in establishing a cross phase Trust was to try to ensure continuity in teaching and learning across the primary secondary divide; what should be a gap, over the summer holidays, can be a huge chasm.
