Its been an disorientating time of life; the last year or so. Losing mum and dad, deciding to retire and selling our house; many of life’s more stressful events rolled into a twelve month period. It’ll all take some getting use to but life continues to be good and blessed in many ways.
The Timpson Review is a timely and well-meaning attempt to address a small but significant issue; the pretence of school improvement, in a small number of schools and academy trusts, through cohort change, with a consequential negative impact on children and young people’s life chances. The Timpson Review has been a long time in producing and almost as long being edited by the Department for Education. Talk of proposals being “watered down” has come from a number of sources; that would be a real shame given the ambition and work of the group writing the report. Continue reading
