5 Evidenced Based Papers All Teachers Should Read

The title is a statement; arguably it should be more of a question.  These would be the 5 key papers I think all teachers – from ITT to Headteachers – should read.  Others may disagree; feel free to suggest alternatives.  Having read them there is a a need to discuss with others; collaboratively develop your depth of understanding and then work hard at implementing within the classroom and staff room until they are systemic or fluent.   Continue reading

Observing Lessons, So What’s Changed?

A year on from when we stopped grading individual lessons I’m wondering how much progress we have made.  Just before the summer I reviewed our new process for evaluating the quality of teaching, with middle leaders, and made a number of tweaks to the system though no substantive changes were suggested.
